DASHA is a duo formed by art and architecture enthusiasts, Dan and Shana Benchetrit, partners in art and in life. Dan -an architect trained in Paris with a background win luxury real estate- brings his unique sense of aesthetics into the endeavor, while Shana -immersed in all things art since childhood- joined her father's gallery in 2007 after completing her studies in art business in Paris.
The duo’s artistic activities emerged from Shana's passion for the eye as a symbol of protection. Dan, with his creative vision, complemented it with the concept of life, resulting in a series of unique sculptures. Together, they are further developing symbolic talismans using the same process.
Originally, the abbreviation of Dan and Shana - DASHA - mirrored the couple’s initiative and vision: Horizon, Infinite, Gift. This spiritual, positive, and optimistic connotation, along with a links to the Divine was a revelation for the artists.
Having become acquainted with various materials and techniques through his work and experience, Dan was drawn to resin - a transparent, resistant, and malleable material. Living in Miami, USA, the idea that their creations could also become reflectors of sunlight came naturally to the artists.
They expanded on the idea of a talisman beyond borders, designing sculptures inspired by iconic symbols worldwide: The Eye as a symbol of protection against evil; the Four-Leaf clover as a lucky charm; the Hai - Hebrew letter “ה" - and its association with the divine; and the Hamsa - representing an open hand and thought to attract positive energies and protection.
