About Filipp Jenikäe

Born in 1987, Filipp Jenikäe splits his time between Münster and Paris, embodying the spirit of a modern nomad. His journey into the art world was deeply influenced by his mother, an art teacher, and enriched by his sister's expertise in art history. Despite initially pursuing Law and Political Science at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Business Administration in the Netherlands, Jenikäe's true passion for art prevailed. A significant turning point came when he abandoned his childhood dream of becoming a professional basketball player, embracing his artistic inclinations fully.

Artistic Style and Influences

Jenikäe’s work is a vivid documentation of urban life and popular culture. His acrylics on canvas capture the achievements of athletes and musicians, as well as the everyday scenes of nightclubs, bars, and city landscapes. Influenced by renowned artists like Henry Taylor, Jonas Wood, Nina Chanel Abney, Picasso, Matisse, Gauguin, George Grosz, David Hockney, and Faith Ringgold, Jenikäe has developed a unique visual language that narrates the nuances of the societies he has experienced across various global cities.
