Pascal GUETTA

BIOGRAPHY

Pascal Guetta (b. 1989, Los Angeles) is a contemporary abstract artist whose work captures the beauty found in time-worn surfaces. Based in Los Angeles, Guetta draws inspiration from the layered textures of city walls, billboards and architectural facades;  sites where history, memory and cultural change leave visible marks. His art reflects a fascination with the interplay between creation and erosion, inviting viewers to contemplate the fleeting yet enduring nature of urban life.

Collected internationally, Guetta’s work resonates for its ability to transform traces of the past into striking, contemporary compositions.

TECHNIQUE

Guetta’s practice is defined by a meticulous, process-driven approach. Working with plaster, gypsum, pigment, paint and collage, he builds up richly-layered surfaces before carefully eroding them to reveal hidden strata beneath. This method mirrors the way weather, time and human intervention shape the urban landscape.

Extending his exploration of texture and scale, Guetta often photographs macro details of his finished paintings, reimagining them as standalone large-scale works. This dual approach (painting followed by photographic translation) creates a dialogue between the whole and the fragment, offering viewers a multi-dimensional encounter with surface, depth and memory.
