TECHNIQUE

From an early age, Valentina developed her identity as an artist through painting and poetry, as well as a love for music. Today, music is a central source of inspiration for her and the main media for her abstract paintings. Her process is to translate and decode music into artwork through collaborations with notable musicians. A striking color palette distinguishes each one of Valentina Bilbao’s artworks and these capture the energy found in music. Bilbao’s thematic use of a spatula is used to add dimension and texture, while the use of the dripping technique makes her a true action painter - painting from all angles. The circular form in her art symbolizes energy, cosmic creation and movement. Bilbao’s ardent happiness is in communicating her love for nature, humanity and enlightenment. Her work comes to life as she brings music to a new visible and tangible place pushing the limits of two-dimensional painting, as pigments and layers create a noticeable physical and psychological depth.
