When art meets fashion

Italian visual artist Marco Lodola is lighting up 2021, literally!

His work inspired the Dior fall 2021 line by Maria Grazia Chiuri, and the luxury house further commissioned him to decorate their display windows worldwide.

As he fondly remembers this outstanding collaboration, the artist says the link between his work and that of Maria Grazia Chiuri is “..the desire to be positive and ‘dance through life’, with colour and light, and why not with fashion as an antidepressant".

Thus, Saks Fifth Avenue’s façade has been illuminated with dozens of colourful faces and silhouettes, marks the iconic address very first time. Marco Lodola created a unique scenography in the luxury department store Harrods with a light installation revisiting English symbols such as double-decker buses, black cabs, and electric guitars. Several animations will also be scheduled in Paris, Rome, Milan, Toronto, Athens, Shanghai, and Seoul.

Born in 1955 in Italy, graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Florence and Milan, Marco Lodola is one of the founders of the New Futurist movement. Famously known for his light sculptures, his commissions come from heterogeneous sectors such as public institutions, brand advertising, and theatres scenography. His artworks are part of numerous private collections as well as on view in public spaces.

As all good things come to an end, Dior will be taking down Lodola's installations at the end of the season.

Fortunately, we present his wonderful work permanently in our galleries in Paris and Miami!
